John and
I weren't in the glamour industry when we first met. We met at a night
club near Weston-super-Mare, John was a builder I was at College in Weston
doing a beauty diploma. Co-incidentally One of our best models came from
Weston s Mare she was called Louise Woods. Louise was in the Avon & Somerset constabulary at the time!
We used to get faxes with that heading, from her saying she was looking
forward to the photo session!! A beautiful girl, we had "spotted" her in a
bar in W-S-M (when we were visiting Friends!) I think her fellow officers
were very impressed to see the dressing down she got in the magazines!!!
After living in Somerset John and I moved up to
London to see if we could "make it" in the London glamour industry. A
friend let us rent his flat in Notting Hill and I joined a top modelling
agent in London while John did up properties. We used to scout for new
faces all over London and famously saw Linda Lusardi at a bus stop so I
approached her ..asking if she was a model ..no she wasn't ..she was
working as a clerk in the tax offices! We thought she was stunning ..We
met her family and they were quite happy for her to work for us. John had
just started as a photographer and he took some lovely pictures of her.
She became a good friend John did a few different sequences. We then put
her in touch with other photographers and as history shows she has done
extremely well from our chance meeting at the bus stop!! becoming one of
the most photographed Page 3 model! She still looks good too!
I used to style the sets and do the make-up the
while John would photograph the girls. He had a good eye for a pretty girl
and was a very good photographer. We worked very much as a team. He also
took sets of a stunning girl called Joanne Latham. He took those pictures
of her in Tunisia.
I started taking pictures almost by accident. John
had to leave a shoot in the middle to go for a very important meeting so I
nervously carried on with the shoot and they turned out well so I then
asked a girl if i could do a shoot of her, a girl called Linzi Mansell.
John had "shot" her a few times and she was very easy to work with. I
styled the shoot, made Linzi up and set up the lights - then sold it to
Mayfair magazine!
Ken Bound who was the owner/photo editor used to
love the whole set to be a strip tease and loved the tight see-through
panties shot. We loved working for Mayfair and I feel Ken saw my ability
to get a sexy shot that he was the first to encourage me. One time I
picked up the set of pictures of a new girl from the photo-lab he phoned
to ask if I could drive round to let him see it! He was waiting outside
his offices for me eager to get the shoot. He loved the exclusivity of a
new model for his magazines! It was a centre spread. Her name was
Charlotte Trinder .
It took a while for other photographers to believe
I was the photographer and doing the shoots entirely on my own! However
the models were soon letting them know!
I went on to shoot so many lovely girls usually
they had never been photographed before. It was always lovely to see the
transformation as soon as I started clicking! Tamara Noon was a very good
example, she just came alive when I started taking pictures! Another
favourite of mine is Lindsey Dawn Mackenzie, I was the first to take
totally nude pictures of her, a very special model, always on time and
worked hard - what a body!! Gorgeous girl as many of her fans will agree!
Nici Norman was also a perfect model to work with,
such a hot girl. She went on to become a very successful Porn Star calling
herself Nici Stirling! and went on to live in the States where they loved
her with her beautiful posh English accent! I had to do some of the
raunchiest photos of Nici that had been asked for by the US magazines. Who
were always more liberal than the English magazines at that time. Very Hot
photos!!
My style of photography was noticed by the
editor/owner of Club U.S Peter Godfrey when he was visiting the UK to see
Paul Raymond and spotted the cover of Men Only I shot of Andrea Clarke
with a luminous green basque, shot in my bathroom and from then on he
wanted as much of my style in his magazines, he liked the intimate style I
had.
That was How I got to "shoot" Seka the great US
Porn star. I was sent over to shoot her and she was consequently sent over
to the UK after that for me to shoot her for her regular appearances in
Club USA. She was a very warm person and she became a very good family
friend.
Nevile Player who was the editor of Escort & Men
Only was, in my opinion a genius as an editor. Coming up with such fun and
horny ideas. Knowing exactly what his readers wanted to see! He was lovely
to work with as were all the PRO team (Paul Raymond Organisation). A few
were girl editors too! Lisa at US Club & Club international. What a great
& special time of glamour we are in!
